Multi-agency working is a successful way of supporting children and families with additional needs. Multi-agency working brings together practitioners from different sectors and professions within the workforce to provide integrated support to children and young people. This is done by having a team around the child. It is a productive way of supporting children with additional needs and helping to secure real improvements for future life outcomes. There are five outcomes of ECM which we should be working together so that we can achieve the best outcomes for children in our care.

The educators and educational institutions in the early childhood setting can promote the rights, interests and needs of children and their families in a number of ways. First of all, the education setting can include the equal rights of all the children in their policy documents, which will boost the wellbeing of children and their families and create an environment of social justice in the society. By following this policy, early childhood settings can provide the basis to the teachers and the educators to follow the interest and needs of the children with disability. The use of media is a very effective strategy to present the issue of discrimination to the government authorities, common public and the child welfare organisations. Race should not matter, but in reality it does and in situations you not do not have to prepare interracial adoptees about this situation but every child needs to know about this situation. It is just at a higher risk with foster kids with different race parents.

The agencies I have regular integration with in my job role include social workers, probation officers, LAC nurses and other health professionals, members of the YOT team, CAHMS workers, teachers, advocates and the police. Each of these bodies provides specialist support to the young person to ensure that any problems encountered can be dealt with professionally, this provides an invaluable support framework for the young person that caters for all their needs whilst in care.
