The conflict of vengeance illustrates the chaos going around Salem and the lies she tells to fill her obsession. Abigail continues to try and sway john towards in hopes of him leaving Elizabeth behind. Abigail Williams pretends to be angry at Elizabeth, she is telling lies about me She is a cold, sniveling woman, and you bend to her! The Evil practices and sins will cast chaos in the town of Salem from one person.
Why I Wrote “The Crucible” | The New Yorker
In The Crucible, John Proctor is seen as a tragic hero. His wife Elizabeth was accused of witchcraft by the young girls which meant that she would be arrested and most likely hanged. John Proctor had make mistakes in the past such as cheating on his wife which led him to make the ultimate sacrifice for his family and his name. John Proctor confesses to being a witch as he knows it is the only way he can save his wife Elizabeth from being arrested and killed. Proctor is seen as a tragic hero because he decides to not sign his confession as it would.
Why I Wrote “The Crucible”
I know if I had to shoot my best friend I would want to be the one that did it because I know I was their friend and I was the one that they trusted. Same goes for George when he killed Lennie; it would be super emotionaly to go through with it. But he did, he had to do it. This is because he chose to stay with his statement which said that Abigail was a fraud and he chose that which would get him hung.
